BICYCLES
Children are allowed to bring
bicycles to school, subject to them being in roadworthy condition. Periodic checks may be made to ensure that
cycles are roadworthy. The school reserves
the right to withdraw a pupil's privilege of bringing a bicycle to school. Bicycles should be left in the bicycle shed
area and pupils are advised to padlock them.
The school participates in the Advanced Cycling Award Scheme in which up
to 30 year 7 pupils receive training in safe cycling.
It is a course designed to teach pupils how to cycle safely
on various types of road and in various conditions. At the end of the course, which runs for five
2-hourly sessions, a Cycling Test and a Highway Code Test are conducted by an
independent examiner, which lead to the Advanced Cycling Award.
