Humanities
|
Humanities incorporates Geography, History and R.E. In the first three years R.E. is taught separately. History and Geography are taught by the same teacher. At GCSE level, students can choose from Geography, History, Religious Education or a combined Humanities GCSE short course. Lower school courses are based on National Curriculum guidelines for Geography, History and R.E..
Throughout all the courses offered our aim is to provide rewarding and relevant learning experiences for the full range of ability at Kingshill School. Links with the community are fostered throughout the five years in school. Pupils are encouraged to discuss and participate in local issues as well as to welcome a variety of visitors into lessons during the year. Fieldwork is an integral part of all courses, using the local area and places elsewhere in the U.K. for example, in Geography, a river study and tourism investigation in Malmesbury. In History there are visits to Warwick Castle and the Black Country Museum.
