HUMANITIES - FACULTY

The Humanities Faculty incorporates Geography and History. In the first two years the subjects are taught by the same teacher. From Year 9 onwards the subjects are split and taught by specialists. Lower school courses are based on the National Curriculum guidelines and from Year 10 pupils can opt to study Geography or History (or both) at GCSE.

Throughout all the courses offered our aim is to provide rewarding and relevant learning experiences for the full range of ability at Kingshill School. Links with the community are fostered throughout the five years in school. Pupils are encouraged to discuss and participate in local issues as well as to welcome a variety of visitors into lessons during the year. Fieldwork is an integral part of all courses, using the local area and places elsewhere in the U.K. and further afield. In Geography, for example, there is a coastal study in South Wales and a trip to Catalonia. In History there are visits to Caldicot Castle, the Black Country Museum and Berlin.
