Aims/Objectives
for the Year:
Pupils will continue to develop their skills in
reading, writing and spelling through a variety of activities.
Support:
- Support is
provided in lessons with Teaching Assistants aiding subject teachers to
meet the needs of all the pupils in the class.
- At
lunchtimes help with homework is on offer in the Learning Support Base and
on two afternoons after school a homework club in held in the Base.
- The
Learning Support Base is stocked with computers, reference books, a
reading library and the subject text books as well as a range of games.
Course Details:
Pupils will be taught how to write clearly and
accurately using a range of structures such as writing frames to produce a
variety of responses.
They follow a carefully structured course to boost
individual literacy skills and raise achievement.
Homework Requirements:
- To learn spelling list every week.
- To read regularly and meet their individual reading target.
National Curriculum Assessment Procedures:
Reading
and spelling are reassessed to measure the progress they have made.
The Progress Test results are also used to inform
teachers about the skills of their pupils.
