Vocational Education
Introduction

The South Cotswold Partnetship is a unique opportunity for pupils to follow an alternative course at Key Stage 4. In collaboration with Cirencester College and the Royal Agricultural College, pupils will have a choice of four areas:-

• Construction
• Motor Vehicle Maintenance
• Beauty
• Business Skills

Pupils will spend the equivalent of one day a week studying their chosen pathway either at college or in school.

The Coates Challenge will be supplemented by pupils following the Life & Community Skills course, where pupils will develop their skills relevant to a work related course. Pupils will also study Maths, English, Science, Design, PE, ICT and Citizenship. This means that pupils will gain the equivalent of eight GCSEs during Key Stage 4.

In Year 11 there may be the opportunity for pupils to undertake one day a week work experience as well as college putting into practice the skills they have learnt.

We hope this course is only the first step for your child in pursuing a curriculum that is relevant and appropriate.

Pupils undertaking The Coates Challenge will be taught offsite, either at the Royal Agricultural College or Cirencester College.
